Diana Croft - Into the Blue
Linocut
20 x 15 cm (image) 38 x 33 cm (frame)
Inspired by the poem ‘Sea Fever’ by John Masefield, which I have known since childhood - I always particularly liked the lines “And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,And the flung spray and the blown spurge, and the sea-gulls crying.”
The birds are not strictly seagulls as I was inspired by the frigate birds on the Yucatan coast in Mexico diving into the sea on a very windy day.
